Lou Short and the Girls who love Sci-Fi are a Rockabilly/Punkabilly/Surf/Swing/Bop & Jazz Band playing original material as well as covers by The Reverend Horton Heat/Stray Cats/Johnny Kid and The Pirates/Eddie Cochran/Gene Vincent and even rockabilly era Morrissey-The band play 50's style music with a bit of a twist ....sorry we don't play Queen or The Killers/ Big Country or any of the Usual covers that most bands seem to be murdering these days just for applause.Sci-fi was formed to provide something a little different with their high Octane performances the audience is treated to a Tarantino style sound track but the origins go back to 2002
While based in London Lou formed "The comedians" consisting of a bassist, drummer and percussionist drawing on the new wave style of 79 this band performed all over London this time dodging the bombs & playing venues such as The Comedy pub and 100 club,A new line up became "The Girls who Love Sci-fi"playing support slots at The Jazz Cafe,as well as a time out reviewed performance at "Ronnie Scott's"2007 saw Short and The Girls who Love Sci-fi playing support slots at Camden's J C for such diverse artists as Ike Turner,Ricky Lee Phillips and Kid Creole and the coconuts as well as playing many festival dates up and down the UK for 2008 into 2009 Girls who love Sci-Fi are quickly becoming a quick live draw
